Your workshops were an opportunity to explore the dance from a new perspective. The body awareness and relaxation exercises encouraged me to find more organic ways to move and create movement, and to release tension and become more grounded. I learnt to initiate the dance from parts of myself – physically and emotionally – that either hadn’t been accessible before, or just hadn’t been talked about in my prior training. You created a safe, nurturing environment which allowed me to participate fully even in activities that were challenging or confronting. The emotional connection that developed between workshop participants made a powerful contribution to my experience. The workshops have given me much to think about as I work on incorporating your approach into my training in modern Egyptian dance technique. Rachel Bond, Inspired Bellydance, Sydney Australia
I want to tell you what your instruction, influence and inspiration has given me since the last Summer School and your classes this year. I am still enjoying learning so much more about the physicality of my body in dance, but with your instruction and support I how have the ability to integrate my heart and soul into my dance. The connection has taken me on such a deep journey within the dance and my own self (that I am still taking) that I have been completely rewriting my entire dance philosophy and finding a new love and direction for my dance, my heart and my lifestyle. It’s scary but I’m finding the strength to make better choices for myself and embracing my own self worth and celebrating my joys, solidifying my priorities and creating a better life for me. I thought I was taking Balady intensive but the gift you gave in that Summer School and in those classes was and is by far more invaluable. Thank you simply does not feel adequate, but until I see you again I can give that in abundance and with buckets of love and gratitude. Ma’isah, Raqs Gothic, Melbourne Australia
